SPEED SHOT

Whereas Best Shot is all about power, whether with 1 hit or multiple hits over 10 seconds, and Burn Out is all about speed, Speed Shot is about speed and power. The speed is a combination of reaction time to respond to Herman's cue and hand or bat speed to strike the target. With Speed Shot, you can track just your speed or you can track your speed combined with your power. Feedback is provided on the speed/power combination.

Here's how it works. In HITS mode, you select the Speed Shot program then the Speed Shot technique. When you depress GO, Herman buzzes putting you in the ready position. When Herman next buzzes and gives the visual cue, you strike the target, hit the ball, or throw the ball. This cue occurs randomly between 1 and 5 seconds from the ready buzzer. When the target is hit, the timer stops and you find out how long it took to make contact and how strong was the contact. You hit too early, you get a zero and the interval ends

Herman takes the power of the impact and divides by the time it took you to create the impact. The higher the power, the better the score. The quicker the reaction, the better the score. For example, if it takes you half a second to hit the target and the power of your hit was a 40, your score is 80 (40 divided by .5).

In SECONDS mode, the first impact works just like above. However, there are 4 more cues coming. Each of the cues occurs randomly from 1 to 5 seconds. For each strike, Herman displays your power and speed. At the end of the sequence, Herman displays your average speed, average power, and total score for the 5 hits. For example, if you averaged the 40 power and averaged half a second per strike, your score would be 400 (5 times 80). This mode is especially helpful when practicing sparring, concentration drills, or doing cardiovascular work.

In MY HERMAN, you can create a series of one-hit Speed Shot techniques and have each impact scored and compared.  The response prompt for each strike is visual and verbal.

There are many applications for Speed Shot in martial arts, boxing, baseball, and football. The pressure of working against the clock while still trying to maximize your power provides another effective training tool, and another basis for competition.

With Speed Shot, Herman completes the circle of measuring power, speed, consistency, and endurance. It's just another way Herman is putting the fun back into training!
