OPERATING SYSTEM 1.04.05
AUTOMATIC OPERATION
Herman operates AUTOMATICALLY but the operation can always be run manually.
STARTING A WORKOUT
After you power on by pressing GO, Herman displays the Garri Productions page and then the owner page.
If you want to use the same workout as last time, press GO and Herman AUTOMATICALLY goes into RUN mode for the technique you've pre-selected in the SetUp Menu - See Auto Go.
If you want to use a different workout, press MENU then SELECT until the desired workout is displayed. Then press GO twice, Herman’s AUTOMATIC operation activates.
WORKING OUT
After each technique, the scores and Feedback are displayed for 10 seconds before AUTOMATICALLY moving to the next technique.
The next technique name is displayed for 5 seconds before moving to the RUN mode for that technique. Herman beeps when ready. If you don’t want to do that technique, press SELECT until the technique you want to do appears. Press GO. The AUTOMATIC operation resumes.
At any point, you can speed up the display switch for the next technique by pressing GO. Otherwise, you can do an entire workout without ever hitting a button.
When working out you can short-cut to changing the threshold by pressing SET when Herman is in Run Program mode. The screen immediately advances to the threshold section of the SetUp Menu. Change the threshold as you wish and hit Menu and Herman returns to the same point in your workout.
BEST SHOT & SPEED SHOT
In BEST SHOT, Herman automatically moves to the RUN mode after the Feedback is displayed for 10 seconds. Unlike all other techniques, there is not an additional 5 second delay in BEST SHOT since there’s only 1 technique and it’s activated by the imparct.. The 5 second delay is included in SPEED SHOT to give enough set-up time before the cue. Stop the automatic operation at any time by hitting GO.
AUTO GO
In the SetUp Menu, you can decide what workout you want Herman to start with when powered on.
FIRST WORKOUT. This directs Herman to start with the first technique of the first workout of the loaded Herman program. This is recommended for users who progress through multiple workouts.
LAST WORKOUT. This directs Herman to start with the first technique of the last workout used. This is recommended for users who are most often using the same workout.
LAST TECHNIQUE. This directs Herman to start with the last technique run in the last workout used. If the workout was completed, it acts like the LAST WORKOUT option.
PROGRESSIVE INTERVAL SCORING
Herman displays the interval scoring for hits, average, and total score in real time as it builds toward the end. At any point, you, a partner or trainer can check current scoring versus the last or best score.
TOTAL WORKOUT SCORING, FEEDBACK, AND TIMER
After the last technique of each workout, the Feedback for that technique is displayed for 10 seconds before moving to the Total Workout display. Herman calculates the total score for that workout, compares the score against the last or best score for that workout and displays the Feedback. You must do ALL the techniques of the workout in order with no do-overs to receive scores and feedback on the total workout. This feature enhances individual and team competition when using one of the multiple player workouts.
Press GO to advance to the next screen which provides detail for the total workout scoring and feedback. It displays the TIME it took to complete the workout from the first hit of the first technique through the last hit of the last technique, the total number of HITS completed in the workout, and the AVERAGE power of the hits. The workout Feedback, which is calculated on the total score, continues to be displayed.
The Total Scores and timer are not affected by interrupting a workout to re-start an interval or change a parameter. It's also not affected by powering off and then on. As long as you do every technique in the right order, Herman calculates your scores and how long it took to complete the workout.
Press MENU to use another workout, GO to start the same workout again, or Power Off to stop.
SPEED SHOT VISUAL CUE
Herman Speed Shot includes a full screen video cue when it is time to strike the target. Herman beeps and the entire screen inverts to Black when it’s time to strike.
BURN OUT & ROUNDS WORKOUTS
The Burn Out workout focuses on speed and endurance rather than power. In this workout, the recoil time for the Herman Sensor is reduced to 230ms from its normal 420ms so that every hit is counted. This workout does not work for power shots.
Rounds workouts are included in each Herman and act independently from the programmed workouts. In the SetUp Timer menu, you can choose Hits, Seconds, or Rounds. If you select Rounds, Herman provides options for the number of rounds (2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 12) and length of rounds. (30 seconds, 1min, 2min, 3min, and 5min). With this option, the hits are counted and power calculated as the timer counts down during the interval, then the 30 sec or 1 minute rest period counts down until it's time to begin the next round.
7 THRESHOLD LEVELS
Herman now has seven threshold levels in the set-up menu - 3g, 5g, 8g, 10g, 15g, 20g, and 25g. Use 8g as good starting point and go up or down to make sure scores register without producing false hits. With the highest threshold levels, all false hits are eliminated. If you're using two sensors, you can separately set the threshold for each.
15 FEEDBACK LEVELS
Herman calculates and displays 15 levels of text and percentage change feedback. It takes a much weaker or much stronger hit to get the extreme positive and negative feedbacks. We offer both mild and harsh negative feedback. The different levels and text are listed in the Instructions and on the Feedback page.
DOWNLOADS DO NOT CHANGE PERSONAL SETTINGS
When you change your workouts from the Herman Programmer, all scores are still erased but your settings for threshold level, HITS/SECONDS intervals, and PREVIOUS/BEST feedback are no longer affected. Once you initially select your settings, you only have to go the Set Up again when you want to clear scores or change a setting.
AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF
Herman will not power off in the middle of an interval. He will, however, power off after 5 minutes of inactivity in any other mode. You can disable this automatic shut-off for that particular time the Herman Trainer is powered on. This is helpful if you are creating workouts or tracking historical scores in My Herman.
