SELECT WORKOUT
Select the type of workout from Custom, Speed Shot, Burn Out, & Pure Speed.
•    Custom workouts record the power of the impacts are virtually unlimited in their flexibility.

•    Speed Shot workouts can have an almost unlimited number of techniques (even repeating the same one) but each technique is limited to one hit.  Speed Shot records the reaction & strike time for each technique.

•    Burn Out workouts reduce the recoil period after each impact from 400ms to 230ms and should be used only for speed drills.

Pure Speed workouts remove the power of the response to the scoring formula.

Check the Auto Advance Box for competition mode, if you want the workout to automatically advance from competitor to competitor and distinguish them by competitor number instead of by name.  If selected, input the number of seconds between each competitor (minimum of 5).

Select or create the specific workout
•    Select  Save and Use This Workout if you want to use the last workout that is the default setting appearing on the screen.

•    Select New Workout if you want to create a new competition or personal workout.

If you want to use a Default Workout, you must rename it and remove default from its name.

If you change the order of the techniques, the interval lengths of any technique, or the number of techniques, it becomes a new workout that must be saved.

SELECT ATHLETE
Once a workout has been selected, you can proceed to Pick Athlete for the Workout mode or go directly to Competition for the Competition mode.

You cannot use the Pick Athlete button until a workout has been selected.

Select from the listed athletes by highlighting their name

Add a new name by selecting Add Athlete
•    A box appears saying Enter New Athlete Name
•    Enter the name and select OK.
•    The name now appears in the list.

Verify or create the desired profile for the athlete.

THRESHOLD - This is the minimum impact score required to register a hit.
•    The best number depends on the target being used and the person striking.
•    Too high a number will fail to recognize good hits from a light hitter.
•    Too low a number will create false hits from the recoil force of the target.
•    Unlike the Herman controller, the threshold setting in My Herman corresponds to the score (double the g-force) rather than the g-force level.  The default setting of 15 is a good starting point and it can be adjusted up or down as necessary.

AUDIO  - Decide how much audio you want in your workout including:
•    Verbal countdown to the start of each technique
•    Verbal countdown leading to the end of each technique
•    Audio sound for each impact that exceeds the threshold level
•    Audio of the variance analysis feedback text at the end of the workout
•    Audio of the variance analysis feedback at the end of each technique.
The default setting uses all audio options.  Uncheck any option you don’t want.

FEEDBACK - Decide whether you want the Harsh text feedback or the Mild.  All feedback provides the percentage change versus the comparison score and provides the same text for the positive feedback.  The Default setting is Harsh.
•    Harsh feedback uses tough love when the performance doesn’t measure up.
•    Mild feedback provides encouragement and is recommended for young kids.

COMPARISON – Decide if you’re competing against your own scores or the score of another athlete who has used that workout. Then decide which type of score.
•    Best
•    Previous
•    Average
The Default setting is against your best score.

SENSORS - Herman works with multiple sensors with the secondary sensors daisy-chained to the primary.  Select the desired configuration.   The Default setting is Best of all sensors.
•    Provide the scores of specific sensors. Use Sensor 1 if only one sensor connected

•    Calculate the best score for each impact from all the connected sensors.  Use this when using multiple sensors on multiple targets

•    Average the scores from the multiple sensors to calculate the score.  This is only valuable when multiple sensors are placed on one large target.
Once all the parameters have been selected, press Save and Use This Athlete
To delete an athlete user, highlight their name and select Delete Athlete

START WORKOUT
Begins the selected workout for the selected Athlete
Displays each technique of the workout in the lower right column.
Displays the comparative target score for each technique and what the score represents in a separate box.
Updates each technique with the score earned in the current workout.

WORKOUT RESULTS
Provides a summary of the most recently completed workout both on an overall basis and for each technique.  This summary includes the current, best, last, and average scores for the workout and each technique and how the current scores compared to the target scores.

ATHLETE HISTORY
First select a workout in Pick Workout, then select an athlete from Pick Athlete.
When you select Athlete History it displays every technique contained in the selected workout and Defaults to the Total Workout graph.
Click on a technique and it reveals a time line bar graph of every workout with each bar containing the following information:
•    The date the technique was completed.

•    The score earned on that technique

•    The percentage above or below your average for that technique for that workout

•    A color bar representing the performance compared to your rolling average.
o    Blue ranges from minus 10% to plus 10%
o    Red starts at -10% and gets darker the worse the score
o    Green starts at +10% and gets darker the better the score
You can also pass over each graph to view the score and the date of the workout
You can repeat this process for every technique and the Total Workout to gauge your personal progress over time.

COMPETITION
START NEW COMPETITOR   - Within a workout, identify the next person to compete.  A box is displayed to enter the person’s name.

If you have checked Auto Advance in the Pick Workout section, My Herman assigns the competitor’s chronological number and starts the competition.  You can switch between manual entry and Auto Advance as you wish - the results are not impacted. You must select End to leave the competition and change the advance setting.

LOAD LAST COMPETITION   - Press this button to see and continue the prior competition.  Overall and technique results are displayed.  Press Start New Competitor to identify the new competitor and restart the competition.

SAVE COMPETITION   - When the competition ends, you can save it to view the results at any time or restart the competition in the future.  Saving the competitions is highly recommended when are done with the competition for awhile.

SET THRESHOLD - This sets the minimum impact required to register a score.  The proper threshold depends on the targets being used and the people doing the striking.  It’s usually found through trial and error.

A threshold set too high will ignore some good impacts and a threshold set too low will create false scores from the target recoil.  15 is a good starting point for adults, 10 for kids

END - You can stop the competition at any time and you must select End before moving to a workout.  When you verify you want to stop it, My Herman asks if you want to save the competition.  The last competition is always saved until a new competition starts.

To make sure the competition is always available, save it and name it.  When appropriate, save the competition with the same name and replace the old competition results with the new.  After you decide whether to save the competition or not, My Herman returns to the Home Screen.

LOAD COMPETITION - Press this button to load any saved prior competitions.  Once loaded, you can look at the results or continue the competition by adding a new competitor.

SHOW LAST GRAPH - This button returns the screen to the final results screen from the last competitor of the current competition.

SELECT FEEDBACK - Check either the Mild or Harsh Feedback button for the text and audio that appears with below average performances.

At the top the Workout Name, the Athlete’s name and the current Technique name and length of its interval are displayed.

There is an audio and video countdown until the athlete should start the technique.

The actual technique interval does not begin until the first impact for that technique.

•    At the end of each technique interval the following is displayed:
o    The total score for that technique.

o    The percentage above or below the rolling average of all competitors through that point in the competition.

o    The corresponding feedback text for the %. This text is verbally given after the last technique of the competition
