BOXING
HERMAN BOXING
The application of the Herman Digital Training System in boxing is very similar to Martial Arts. A sensor is attached to a heavy bag or hand target and Herman calculates the number of punches, the strongest punch, and the average power of the punches during a pre-selected interval. Herman then provides immediate, objective feedback regarding the boxer's scores for each technique or time interval.
Herman measures a boxer's speed with the number of strikes he achieves during the selected interval. He measures the boxer's reaction time with how fast the boxer reacts to Herman's cue in Speed Shot. He measures the boxer's power with the Maximum punch score. And he measures the boxer's consistency with the Average score. The overall performance is reflected in the boxer's total score which multiplies the number of punches times the average punch power.
Herman is very flexible. Boxers or their trainers can download programs to match their skill level. The threshold levels can be adjusted to match the target. And the duration choice can be selected to match the boxer's goal.
To work on a boxer's technique, the trainer can set the duration by the number of hits rather than time. This puts the entire focus on the maximum and average power of the punches. Greater maximum power and consistency creates a higher score. He can also isolate the left hand from the right to determine exact strengths and weaknesses. And he can review all of the boxer's scores to track his progress
To work on a boxer's fitness level and to more closely approximate real fight situations, the trainer can set the duration by time rather than hits. Intervals of 30 seconds, 60 seconds, 2 minutes, and 3 minutes can be selected depending on the boxer's level. We can also customize the workouts to best fit a specific boxing regimen.
Herman includes all of the boxing techniques from jabs to hooks. General and specific combinations of these techniques can be programmed in as well. So too, can the right hand be separately monitored from the left. The workouts can be varied to meet specific goals and avoid boredom.
All of the attributes Herman provides in martial arts work for boxing as well. The Herman Digital Training System provides the flexibility to effectively measure a boxer's speed, power, and conditioning and create a fun, effective training environment.
